Remarks With continuous implementation of stricter food safety guidelines by regulatory bodies, testing labs must repeatedly demonstrate their analytical competence in conforming to these regulations. Supelco® new Fatty Acid Methyl Ester (FAME) and Aflatoxin proficiency testing schemes are key quality assurance tools for allowing food testing labs to monitor their quality control and demonstrate their compliance. The Aflatoxins PT is a beneficial quality assurance tool for laboratories which allow the lab to detect and quantify 4 of the major Aflatoxins (B1, B2, G1 and G2) in a food sample. The FAMEs PT includes monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, making this PT very useful to food analysts since it can be used to identify fatty acids in many different types of foods. The Furocoumarin Matrix PT Kit is suitable for testing the concentrations of 16 most relevant Furocoumarins in an orange or grapefruit oil matrix and is assessed in accordance with ISO/IEC 17043:2010. Proficiency Testing, or interlaboratory comparison testing, is essential for quality assurance and to ensure a laboratory’s performance. Supelco® PT schemes and test components provide essential performance data to monitor and/or prove competence to laboratories and their accreditation bodies
