Aims of the PT scheme
Target group of participants No restrictions - Participants are Testing laboratories interested in receiving an independent external evaluation of their competence in analytical testing on Physical-Chemical parameters in Groundwater
Linked to specific legislation / standards Only Total Nitrogen determination, the sample digestion must be performed according to one of the following methods (or with a procedure proved to be equivalent): - ISO 11905-1:1997 - Water quality -- Determination of nitrogen -- Part 1: Method using oxidative digestion with peroxodisulfate; - ISO 29441:2010 - Water quality -- Determination of total nitrogen after UV digestion -- Method using flow analysis (CFA and FIA) and spectrometric detection. (Peroxodisulfate and thermo-UV digester); - EN 12260 - Water quality - Determination of nitrogen - Determination of bound nitrogen (TNb), following oxidation to nitrogen oxides. (Catalytic combustion). Total Organic Carbon as Non-Purgeable Organic Carbon. Direct determination: prior to the TOC determination, the inorganic carbon is removed by purging the acidified sample with a gas which is free from CO2. Reference method for the procedure (NPOC): EN 1484:1997, EPA 9060A or equivalent methods.
