Remarks GC AXIO Proficiency Testing offer the Crytosporidium scheme (CRYPTS) to laboratories within the water industry who regularly test their water for the parasite Crytosporidium. The industry challenges Cryptosporidium is a parasite found in water that can cause illness in humans, as demonstrated in a number of recent cryptosporidium outbreaks that have threatened public health. Potable or recreational waters should be treated to remove cryptosporidium; samples are therefore regularly tested through the water industry to ensure that treatment has worked and water supplies are free from cryptosporidium. AXIOs solution for our partners Guidelines exist, such as those from the WHO and the EPA, to ensure cryptosporidium doesn't contaminate human water supplies. AXIOs CRYPTS scheme enables particpants to show the validity of their methods and results, with samples including slides, suspensions and filters with cryptosporidium oocysts.
