Remarks | The tropane alkaloids hyoscyamine and scopolamine are frequently detected in oil seeds like linseeds as well as in cereals like sorghum or millet (teff). According to Commission Regulation (EU) 2021/1408 maximum levels of 5 µg/kg are set for the sum of hyoscyamine and scopolamine for milling products of millet, sorghum, and maize. A sample of a teff flour is provided as test material in P2411-RT. The teff flour contains natural contamination with hyoscyamine and scopolamine. The results are assessed with respect to the comparability criterion (z-score). LOQs of 1 µg/kg for each of the two tropane alkaloids are required for participation in P2411-RT.
