Many countries are part of the EPTIS network. PT providers from these countries can have their schemes listed in the database. Read further if you want to know how your country or region can become part of the network.
EPTIS works with a system of coordinators, who offer local PT providers the opportunity to register their schemes on EPTIS. They are familiar with the local situation and speak the local language, which makes the system work quite well. Coordinators keep the database up to date and local PT providers can contact them for any issue relating to EPTIS.
There is one coordinator per economy. This can be a country or a group of countries such as the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, which joined EPTIS in 2011. A region has one central coordinator, who can be supported by a network of national EPTIS contact points. At present, EPTIS covers the southern part of Africa, Australia, Turkey and large parts of the Americas and Europe (see Who is EPTIS).
And your country or region is welcome, too. Do you wish to take part in EPTIS? Contact us. If coordinatorship is not for you, we suggest to contact a metrology or testing organisation in your country, or your local accreditation body. Most of our coordinators are from this type of institutes. Maybe they can help you further and suggest or appoint a coordinator for your economy.
How to become a coordinator? First, you must agree to the terms and conditions of the EPTIS network. You can read these in the EPTIS protocol. Second, there is a one-off fee for opening the new EPTIS account. EPTIS is hosted by a large governmental institute in Germany which does not pursue profit. Interested? Please contact us if you have any questions.
